News at Riverview

Fellow Cedar Falls Bible Conference Supporters and Attenders,

Some events have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Among my favorites: the Iowa State Fair, Hawkeyes football games, and the Cedar Falls Bible Conference (CFBC). I can’t begin to communicate how the Lord has used the latter to bless and shape me throughout my entire life. From nursery school in the basement of the church that used to sit behind the conference center, to the musicals we used to do as part of the evening youth sessions, to life changing preaching from Haddon Robinson, Stanley (“Great honks!”) Toussaint, Derek Thomas, Voddie Baucham, Bryan Loritts, and countless others…not to mention the vast number of relationships I’ve formed with great people over the years, including many of you. The CFBC has been a nearly-century long treasure with immeasurable Kingdom impact on all of us and innumerable others.
To say I am humbled and excited to serve the Lord and the rest of you as the Director for the 2018 CFBC would be an understatement. With God’s direction and providence, 2018 will be a great year as we take another step, building on a strong foundation, toward making CFBC a better-promoted, higher-impact conference that thrives and bears fruit for decades and generations into the future.
My volunteer role in this official capacity started more than three conferences ago when CFBC’s Director, Bruce Nelson, approached me about being his successor whenever God chose to call him out of that position. At that time, I assumed Bruce, who has provided tremendous leadership and kept the conference on the straight and narrow for decades, would be at the helm at least through our 100th Conference in 2020, if not well beyond. And I was glad to have him for at least that long, as I was in no hurry whatsoever to attempt to fill his enormous shoes. I wrote Bruce privately after his unexpected resignation at the end of this year’s conference that just like I grew up with Jim Zabel as the Voice of the Hawkeyes, I grew up with Bruce Nelson as the Voice of the CFBC…and just like I still wish Zabel was
doing Iowa games, I’m going to have a hard time transitioning away from Bruce’s leadership. But Bruce was convinced it was time for him to move on, so now it’s time for me to step up. And in the Lord’s strength I’m ready to do that.

I’ll be working closely with a CFBC Ministry Team along with the Riverview Ministries Board and Executive Director to organize speakers, musicians, VBS leaders and all the other components associated with a successful conference. Please pray for us. Pray that the Lord would give us wisdom and discernment, and that he’d bless and multiply our efforts for his glory. Also, I personally covet your prayers as I navigate the challenge of balancing this new role with other volunteer and professional responsibilities I have on my plate…US Director for TheLifeProject.com, Nazareth Church Council, and Hudson City Council, in addition to other important things like being a husband and father of four! Like I mentioned earlier, I didn’t expect this particular opportunity to open up for a few more years. But I trust God’s timing and purposes and look forward to what’s in store for you and me and the CFBC we have come to love.
Please feel free to reach out to me with thoughts, concerns, and/or questions. Stay tuned for email and Facebook posts on our “Cedar Falls Bible Conference” page. See you at next year’s conference if not before!
Thanks for your prayers and continued support,
Matt Reisetter

November 1, 2016

Dear Concert supporters:

Fall has arrived at Riverview. We have plenty of leaves on the ground and still plenty on the trees. Our Fall work has begun!!!

But even more exciting is that our 2017 concert tickets are on sale. You are going to be blessed with some top-notch groups that we have not had in this area previously. We are offering many options for ticket purchases this year. Please read the following guidelines for ticket purchases:

If you had Reserved Artist Circle tickets in the past, you have until December 15,2016 to claim those seats. If you have not responded before that date those seats will be made available to the public.

Season tickets are available for the 2017 season with reserved seats in both Artist Circle and General Admission. Season Tickets DO NOT include meal tickets for events. Season tickets will be issued at time of purchase and will be the responsibility of the ticket holder throughout the season. If lost they can be replaced for a $20 fee. These season tickets would make great Christmas gifts.

We are now accepting credit cards but there is a fee of $2.50 involved to cover our fees.  All phone orders must be paid before they are mailed out. Only paid tickets will be held in “WILL CALL”.

There are names on the 2017 schedule that you will not recognize. Don’t let that discourage you from attending. We have invited groups that do not carry the name recognition that some other groups do.  You will not be disappointed in these groups. We are content and confident that this will be a great season of talent and blessing.

Look forward to seeing you all there,

We would like to invite you to share in a wonderful opportunity that Riverview will be a part of. Riverview Conference Center will be hosting a simulcast of Priscilla Shirer on April 8, 2017! This event will be held in the Event Center at Riverview. The Simulcast will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:35 p.m.

Priscilla Shirer Live is an intimate and inspiring women’s conference like no other. Priscilla’s ministry to women across the country and around the world is focused on the expository teaching of the Word of God. Her desire is to see women come to a full understanding of who they are in Christ by hearing the uncompromising truth of Scripture. You may know Priscilla from her Bible study books and her recent role in the War Room. We would like to give you an opportunity to register for this great event before Christmas as this would make a wonderful gift. The cost for the day is $30 which includes a boxed lunch. Tickets may be purchased the day of the event for $28 but will not include a boxed lunch.

Riverview has several cabins that can be rented during this time. Please call the office for more information. We do have hotels on standby in case our cabins fill up. Please watch our website for more details. Wiley’s Bookstore from Cedar Falls will be with us that day to service you. We hope that you will join us for this wonderful event! To register, fill out the form below and send it along with payment to Riverview Conferenece Center. Please call the office to inquire of group rates or if you have any other questions.

Danny put on a concert here at Riverview on May 15th and all I can say is WOW!!!  It was so exciting to see over 500 people come and listen to this wonderful contemporary artist!  Danny shared his powerful message of hope following the death of his first wife, what it was like being on American Idol and about how his career is where it is now simply by letting the Lord be in control.  What an inspiration he is!  He certainly related to the crowd and from what I could tell, everyone had a great time!

Comments & Feedback – 2016 Valentine Tea:

Thank you for offering this special day for single women – I was so glad to have something to look forward to.  My married friends are traveling together and others are attending special Valentine banquets at our church, so you offered me a time special for me.  God bless you.  Every prayer was answered  – so loving and thoughtful in all you did!

Thank you for this wonderful event.  It made me feel important during the holiday where single is not the popular thing to be.  Everything, every detain was beautifully handled.   Great job – praise the Lord and bless you all for hosting us today!

Although the weather outside was cold, we were wrapped in God’s great love to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  We gathered in the coffee nook to hear Kimberly share her story and encourage us to have a transparent heart by giving all our struggles to Jesus – who provides our greatest love.  Darla inspired us to worship through her beautiful voice and uplifting songs.  The elegant decor of pinks, reds, flowers, and hearts along with the delicious delicacies for our nourishment made us feel like the princesses that we are.  Many new friendships were made and many re-connection’s.  Love was in the room!!!

Comments & Feedback – Cooking Class

The first Riverview Women’s Ministry Cooking session was held in April.

Although a small group, we enjoyed learning about new healthy cooking techniques and products while watching Karen and Lew prepare it.  This was a fun, informal demonstration with great benefits!.  The best part—we enjoyed the delicious food!  The cod fish was scrumptious! New friendships were formed and old acquaintances were re-connected.  One participant commented:  That was the most fun and best lunch I have ever had for $5!

Watch for future sessions in 2017!!
